'I am deeply moved; it feels like home.' I spent a long weekend in Altenburschla, on the banks of the Werra River in eastern North "Hessen". I was following in the footsteps of my great-great-grandfather, who was born in Weißenborn in 1871. This part of the country is becoming increasingly popular, especially with cyclists. Until 1989, eastern "Hessen" was rather unpopular with holidaymakers due to its remoteness and proximity to the border with the GDR.
